Sue Abrahams
Conservative Candidate for Prittlewell Ward
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council Elections 3rd May 2012
Sue has been involved in local politics with the Conservative party for about a decade and is now standing for a place on Southend Council in Prittlewell Ward. It is something she has wanted to do for some time and the Prittlewell committee are delighted that she has been appointed to that position. Unfortunately Conservative candidates have not done well at the ballot box in this ward at a time when the need for sensible debate, sensible policies and special expertise is even more essential.
We are living in difficult times with £70 million having been cut from our revenue budget over the last seven years. This has been done without dramatic decreases in services but in future there is no doubt that even more difficult decisions will have to be made. Having Sue’s professional expertise can only help to ensure that such decisions are sensible. Our main opponents will claim that massive sums can be saved by cutting bureaucracy and improving financial management as they do every year. Unfortunately that is not their own area of expertise and every year those who understand such matters sit open jawed in amazement as they listen to their nonsense in the budget debates.
Not all candidates in any election are equally talented but when we have the opportunity to elect someone who really is talented we hope you will seize the day and vote for her.
